Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeremy Paxman!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pieter Daan Mostert!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mostert shoots in but Paxman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Paxman lands a front kick.
Mostert misses with a looping left.
Mostert ducks under a wild hook from Paxman.
Mostert is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Paxman connects with a body shot.
We've been told by Paxman's head coaches at Tooting Popular Front HQ that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Paxman throws a big shot that misses.
Mostert drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Paxman defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mostert misses with a leg kick.
Paxman throws a looping overhand right but Mostert ducks down to avoid it.

and Paxman counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mostert takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Paxman ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

and Mostert counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mostert.

Mostert has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Rabid Dog . Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Mostert controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mostert stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paxman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Paxman enables Mostert to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Paxman manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Paxman holds on and takes a little breather.
Mostert pushes down on Paxman's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Mostert is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mostert's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Paxman has Mostert pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mostert moves out of range as Paxman strikes.
Mostert throws out a counter right but Paxman avoids it with no problem.

That was a close round but I would say that Jeremy Paxman will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Paxman throws a hook to the side of Mostert's head but Mostert sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Some bone on bone action there as Paxman checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

and Paxman counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Mostert shoots for a double leg takedown but Paxman sprawls well. He's pushed Mostert's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Paxman walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Mostert checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Mostert tries to move into range but Paxman moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Paxman fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Mostert misses with a series of wild punches.
Paxman keeps the fight on the outside.
Mostert misses with a hook. Paxman ducked under it nicely.

Paxman slaps away a takedown attempt from Mostert, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Paxman tries to throw a body punch but Mostert avoids it by throwing Paxman back against the cage.
Paxman throws a punch but it's blocked by Mostert.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Paxman misses with a punch on the inside.
Mostert tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Paxman smiles and moves away.

Paxman lands a big uppercut and Mostert crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Mostert looks OK. Paxman waves Mostert back to his feet!

Mostert circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Paxman. Mostert falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Paxman!
