And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Barrios Messi!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Messi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
No joy there for Messi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Merlin throws a predictable looking body shot
and Messi holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Merlin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Messi just stands there and leans against the cage.
Merlin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Messi fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Messi misses with a wild combination.
Messi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Merlin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Messi's guard.
Merlin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Merlin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Messi wants to sweep but no luck.
Merlin drops back looking for a leg! Messi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Messi manages to kick Merlin off! Merlin jumps back into Messi's guard.
Merlin tries to free his leg and advance position but Messi is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Merlin drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Merlin seems to have locked his on tight now - Messi screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Merlin, as he picks up the win!
