Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duncan Chavez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rydus King!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King scores with a takedown into Chavez's guard.
Chavez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Chavez is adopting a defensive guard.
King is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Chavez looking to hit a scissor sweep but King is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

King is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
King tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Chavez avoids the head kick by King.

King closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Chavez gets back to half guard.
Chavez wants to control but King is keeping busy.

Chavez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. King manages to get himself to full guard.

Chavez seems to be working for a kimura but King defends the submission attempt.

Chavez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
King tries to roll over but Chavez keeps him under control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Chavez decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

King gets a takedown into half guard.
Chavez really is a fat lump.
King looks winded!

Chavez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. King is working away from the top position though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chavez is not content to let King control the position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


King doesn't manage to clinch there - Chavez circles away.
It looked like Chavez was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Chavez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

King has a closed guard, preventing Chavez from standing up.

Chavez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in King's guard.

Chavez wants to stand and escape but instead King has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

King thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

King wants to get back to his feet but Chavez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Chavez stands and steps away. King gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
King misses with a body shot.
It looked like Chavez was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
King throws a head kick but Chavez moves out of range.
An attempted straight right counter from Chavez misses the target.
King is breathing heavily.
King throws a nice looking combination but Chavez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Chavez is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from King.

King throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chavez was covering up waiting for the punch and King finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Chavez managing to control the position.
Chavez keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
King might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Chavez haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Rydus King has got the better of the ground game so far.
Chavez controls King momentarily but King frees himself.
Chavez looking to hit a scissor sweep but King is one step ahead there.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Rydus King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


King is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chavez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

King drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Chavez is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked King off and has taken his back!
King wants to control his opponent's hands but Chavez gets his hands free.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chavez has both hooks in and is working for a choke. King is in real trouble here. Chavez gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, King is tapping out! Chavez wins by rear naked choke!
