PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hank Holmes (ranked 4226 p4p, 463 weight class) and Mush Mouth (ranked 1906 p4p, 230 weight class). Mush Mouth told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
19 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hank Holmes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mush Mouth!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oooooh!!! Mouth has knocked Holmes down with a huge combo! Mouth steps away and waves a wobbly Holmes back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
It looks like Hank Holmes has been cut.
Holmes throws a big shot that misses.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Holmes crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mouth - the referee stops the clock and Holmes gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mouth. Holmes manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Holmes fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mouth looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Mouth scores with a three punch combo!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Some wild striking there from Holmes.
Mouth keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mouth lands a big right hand that sends Holmes crashing to the mat! Mouth stays standing though and waves Holmes back to his feet!
Holmes is rocked!
Holmes missing with a left hand there. Mouth was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Oh Holmes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A telegraphed right hand from Holmes misses the target.
Holmes seems to have got his legs back now.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Mouth.
Holmes struggling a bit here.
Holmes tries to bench press Mouth off him but Mouth keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mouth is looking to take a break and control but Holmes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Holmes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mouth wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mouth scoring with punches from side control.
Mouth working the head and body with strikes.
Mouth cracks Holmes with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Mouth immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Holmes is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Mouth!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mush Mouth!
A very excited looking Mush Mouth rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
