These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kirkland's guard.

Boi passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boi throws a strike aimed at the side of Kirkland's head but Kirkland avoids it well.
Boi wants to control but Kirkland is keeping him busy.

Kirkland tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Boi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kirkland tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Boi postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Kirkland tries to improve position but can't.

Boi controls the position.
Kirkland bucks up and tries to throw Boi off but instead Boi has got his back!
Kirkland is trying to defend against the choke here but Boi has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Boi Tightens the hold and Kirkland taps out furiously! Boi displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
