Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sandayu Momochi (ranked 467 p4p, 65 weight class) and Eric Staal (ranked 290 p4p, 43 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sandayu Momochi !
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Eric Staal!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Lou da Vinci and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Momochi with a nice cross.
Staal misses with a looping left.
Momochi doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Staal to counter with a crisp jab.
Momochi loads up on a big right hand but Staal slips the punch.
Momochi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Staal sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Momochi somewhat.
Staal looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Momochi steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Staal. That one must have hurt.
Momochi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Staal fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Momochi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
