The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tiote throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tiote is in Diaz's guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Tiote's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Tiote has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Tiote is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tiote connects with a nice short shot to Diaz's temple.

Tiote is looking for a kimura but Diaz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tiote to get the leverage.

Tiote is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Diaz is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Tiote scores with a couple of nice shots.

Diaz is looking to control Tiote's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Diaz avoid being mounted?
Diaz seems to have recovered his senses.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Tiote lands a huge takedown. Diaz is out but the ref is slow to react and Tiote lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Diaz lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
