PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benito Wolf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Haywood Jablowme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jablowme has chosen Kill it with kindness as his entrance music. Haywood Jablowme is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Benito Wolf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Haywood Jablowme!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jablowme swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Wolf counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Jablowme looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Wolf jumps into guard, dragging Jablowme to the mat.
Jablowme trying to control but Wolf is working from the bottom.
Wolf looking for a sweep. Not yet Wolf, not yet.
My spies in 3Band MMA ($500/week) inform me that Jablowme has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Wolf working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jablowme doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jablowme manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wolf manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jablowme manages to get himself to full guard.

Jablowme is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Wolf postures up and lands a big shot to Jablowme's brow.
Wolf postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Wolf throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wolf accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Wolf drops back looking for a leg! Jablowme is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jablowme manages to kick Wolf off! Wolf jumps back into Jablowme's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jablowme wants to sweep but no luck.
Wolf postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Wolf working some strikes from top position.
Wolf chips away with some ground and pound.
Wolf is working Jablowme over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Wolf scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Jablowme trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Wolf is looking to work some ground and pound but Jablowme has wrist control.
Wolf postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jablowme wants to stand and escape but Wolf is having none of it.
Wolf throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jablowme works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jablowme lands a head shot.

Wolf forces Jablowme back against the cage and clinches.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jablowme not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wolf with a nice head shot there.
Wolf stands up over Jablowme, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jablowme is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benito Wolf dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Wolf has Jablowme up against the cage in a clinch.
Jablowme throws a punch but it's blocked by Wolf.
Wolf throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Wolf comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Wolf scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Jablowme has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Wolf misses with an elbow over the top.
Wolf is trying to pull guard but Jablowme has him pressed against the cage.
Wolf lands a knee to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wolf lands a left hand.

Wolf jumps into guard, dragging Jablowme to the mat.
Wolf controls Jablowme momentarily but Jablowme frees himself.
Jablowme is breathing heavily.

Wolf is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Wolf working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Jablowme has passed into half guard!

Jablowme is trying to work for a kimura but Wolf is defending well.
Jablowme seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wolf does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Wolf is looking to improve his position.

Jablowme is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wolf doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jablowme.
Wolf is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jablowme can do to turn this around?
Jablowme wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wolf keeps working.
Jablowme prevents Wolf from improving his position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wolf is working hard here to advance position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Jablowme stands up from half guard.
Wolf tries to clinch but Jablowme is having none of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jablowme throws a combination. Wolf tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Jablowme tries to close the distance and clinch but Wolf swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Wolf shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jablowme sprawls well. Jablowme wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wolf gets slowly back to his feet.
Jablowme flicks out a counter leg kick but Wolf steps away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Benito Wolf will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Jablowme decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wolf knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jablowme on the ground.
Jablowme is keen to just control but Wolf is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Wolf is refusing to be controlled, as Jablowme sits in half guard.
Wolf regains full guard. Nicely done.
Wolf is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wolf shoots in but no luck this time.
Jablowme wants to counter with a clinch but Wolf pushes him away.

Jablowme moves into the clinch.

Jablowme pulls guard effortlessly.
Wolf is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Jablowme looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jablowme trying to keep a closed guard but Wolf is proving a slippery customer.

Haywood Jablowme comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wolf has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
