PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Cole (ranked 215 p4p, 31 weight class) and Dennis Nilsen (ranked 1973 p4p, 259 weight class). Cole comes to the cage accompanied by I Won't Back Down. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Cole!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dennis Nilsen!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nilsen on the side of the head.


It looks like Dennis Nilsen has been cut.

Nilsen drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nilsen showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Michael Cole seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cole cracks Nilsen with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Cole stuffs the takedown attempt from Nilsen. Nilsen gets slowly back to his feet.

Nilsen darts in looking for a takedown but Cole gets double underhooks and turns Nilsen into the cage.
Michael Cole has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dennis Nilsen.
Nilsen dives in for a single leg takedown but Cole sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Nilsen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cole is fending him off so far but Nilsen persists. Nope, Cole circles away and we're back to standing.

Nilsen closes the distance and clinches up with Cole, looking for a takedown. Nilsen pushes Cole against the cage but Cole circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cole just misses with a punch to the body.
Cole lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nilsen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cole avoids it really well and circles away.

Cole displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nilsen.
Nilsen doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Nilsen misses with a low kick.
We've been told by Cole's head coaches at LOD: Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Nilsen takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Cole is looking to wear down Nilsen with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Cole just misses with a punch to the body.

Cole attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Nilsen tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Nilsen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cole's guard.
Nilsen wants to control from the top but Cole keeps moving.
Cole looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nilsen is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nilsen tries to free his leg and advance position but Cole is retaining full guard.
Cole looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Nilsen trying to control but Cole is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cole misses with an uppercut. Nilsen saw that one coming.
Nilsen takes a jab right on the kisser.
Nilsen shoots in for a double leg but Cole sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nilsen tries for a takedown but Cole sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Cole connects with a right hand. Nilsen shakes it off.

Cole scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Nilsen is still on wobbly legs! Can Cole finish him?
Nilsen tries to get into range but Cole steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Nilsen! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Cole scores the big KO victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Michael Cole!
