Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Donald Baroni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hwai Ja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donald Baroni has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Donald Baroni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hwai Ja!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baroni pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ja tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Baroni seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Ja rushes Baroni and presses him up against the cage.
Ja fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Ja lands a right hand.

Baroni has Ja pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Baroni pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ja tumbling to the mat - Baroni dives into Ja's guard.

Baroni got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ja has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Baroni has managed to get both his arms back between Ja's legs - danger averted.

Baroni is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ja defends it well.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ja tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Baroni manages to move to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ja bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Baroni pulls Ja in to control the position.

Baroni had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ja defends it easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ja is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Ja won't allow Baroni to sweep him here.
Ja slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Baroni swats away the attempt to clinch by Ja.
Baroni tries a head kick but it misses.
Ja throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Donald Baroni will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Baroni throws a right hand that misses
and Ja connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ja lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Baroni circles away quickly and effectively.
Ja fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Baroni has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Ja throws a leg kick but Baroni sees it coming and moves out of range.
Ja walks into a straight right hand from Baroni.
Baroni lands a head shot.
Baroni swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Baroni's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ja under the eye.

Donald Baroni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Baroni shoots in looking for a takedown. Ja tries to sprawl out of it but Baroni keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ja manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Ja bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Baroni's guard.

Baroni is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Ja has his hands clasped together but Baroni extends and breaks Ja's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Baroni.
