The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer falls off balance throwing a combination
and Hole counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Mercer misses with a few strikes there.
Hole avoids the head kick by Mercer.
Mercer moves to clinch but Hole breaks away
and Mercer takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mercer is looking to clinch.
Hole swings for the body but Mercer moves out of range.
Hole lands with a straight right. Mercer didn't see that one coming.
Mercer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hole.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mercer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hole paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hole keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mercer misses with a head kick.
Mercer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hole circles away quickly and effectively.
Hole throws a front kick aimed at Mercer's knee but Mercer avoids it well.
Hole moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromMercer.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mercer tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hole defends well and Mercer ends up having to push Hole into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mercer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mercer misses with the combination.
Hole scores with a kick to the midsection.
Mercer looks winded!
Hole wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Hole jabs Mercer to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Hole throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mercer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Hole drops Mercer with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Mercer looks back up at him and smiles so Hole waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

It looks like Malik Mercer has been cut.
Malik Mercer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mercer takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hole, as that shot connected.

Mercer is rocked!

Hole lands with a nice body punch.
Mercer is still on wobbly legs! Can Hole finish him?
Hole lands a brutal uppercut that launches Mercer off his feet! Mercer tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Harry Hole was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
