Woodring comes to the cage accompanied by American bad ass. Mikel Machida is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Woodring circles away quickly and effectively.
Machida gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Owen Woodring seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machida takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Woodring lunges at Machida with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Machida's hand.
Woodring misses with a two punch combination.
Woodring uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Machida has time to react.

Machida is rocked!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Machida.
Woodring scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Machida moves out of range of the leg kick from Woodring.
Woodring misses with a double jab

and Machida counters with a single leg into guard. Woodring didn't expect that.
Woodring is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Woodring wants to stand but Machida is controlling the position.
Woodring is adopting a defensive guard.

Woodring has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Woodring on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Woodring tries to get out of the position.
Woodring looking for a sweep. Not yet Woodring, not yet.
Woodring looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Machida prevents Woodring from getting back to his feet.
Woodring is adopting a defensive guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Woodring is on top in guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Machida can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Woodring controls the pace.
Machida not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Woodring is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Owen Woodring just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Woodring rushes Machida with punches - Machida moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Machida goes down! Woodring follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
