PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sausage McGriddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Burton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Burton told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sausage McGriddle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Burton!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGriddle leaves Burton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

We've been hearing good reports from McGriddle's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Burton is on top in guard.


McGriddle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Burton defends it easily.
McGriddle is pulling down on Burton's head. It's preventing any offense from Burton, at least for the moment.
McGriddle wants to sweep but no luck.

McGriddle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Burton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Burton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as McGriddle holds on and takes a little breather.

McGriddle wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

McGriddle has his foot on Burton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burton works his way back into a safe position though.

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA New York inform us that Burton has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

McGriddle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McGriddle lands in his opponent's guard.
