And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Roosevelt Coleman!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roberts clobbers Coleman with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Roberts throws a poor cross that misses
and Coleman counters with a nice low kick that buckles Roberts's knee momentarily.
Coleman keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Roberts.
Roberts looks to throw the jab but Coleman is out of range.
Roberts misses with an uppercut
and Coleman counters with an inside leg kick.
Roberts jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Coleman lets loose with a powerful body kick. Roberts will feel that in the morning.
Coleman connects with an inside leg kick.
Roberts scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Roberts tries to clinch there but Coleman circles away.
Roberts connects with a right hand. Coleman shakes it off.
Coleman looks for a takedown but Roberts sprawls well.
Coleman fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Roberts.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Roberts sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Coleman lands a nice hook to Roberts's body. Roberts takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Roberts is breathing heavily.
Roberts takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.


It looks like Ray Roberts has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A nice leg kick lands there from Coleman.
Roberts cracks Coleman with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Roberts throws a right hand that misses

and Coleman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Coleman.
Roberts will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Coleman stays in close to Roberts's body and controls the position.
Coleman trying to control but Roberts is working from the bottom.
Coleman lands a couple of elbows.
Roberts avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Coleman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Coleman landing some decent shots from guard.
Coleman engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Coleman's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roberts keeping moving, preventing Coleman from controlling successfully.
Roberts preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Coleman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Coleman trying to control the position from guard on top but Roberts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Coleman lands with a thumping leg kick.
Roberts takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
That kick from Coleman tenderised Roberts's leg. Roberts is trying to keep his angry face on.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Coleman throws an overhand right that lands on Roberts's shoulder, as Roberts tries to avoid the shot.
Coleman lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Roberts jabbing away but nothing is landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roberts misses with a hook

and Coleman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Roberts won't be happy with that.
Sloppy strikes there by Coleman.
Coleman is chipping away with strikes.
Coleman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Coleman lands an elbow.
Coleman landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Coleman scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Roberts is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Coleman can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roosevelt Coleman!
Roosevelt Coleman is the new heavyweight champion!
An out of breath Roosevelt Coleman thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
