PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sorinel Pustiu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jozef Beast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pustiu scores with a leg kick.
Pustiu misses with a series of wild punches.
Pustiu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Beast tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Pustiu throws a right and a left that both miss.
Pustiu lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Pustiu lands a right hook to the body.
A combination from Pustiu does no damage.
Sorinel Pustiu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Pustiu.
Pustiu scores with a jab. Beast acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Beast shoots in looking for a takedown. Pustiu tries to sprawl out of it but Beast keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pustiu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Pustiu fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Beast has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Beast takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

so Beast counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Pustiu has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Beast off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Beast scores with a takedown into Pustiu's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Beast wants to pass the guard but Pustiu is keeping the position.
Beast prevents Pustiu from getting back to his feet.
Beast stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pustiu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pustiu is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beast is controlling him.

Beast thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Beast has gone for a leg lock! Pustiu slips out almost immediately though and dives into Beast's guard.

Pustiu wants to get up but he can't break Beast's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Beast controls Pustiu momentarily but Pustiu frees himself.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Beast is on top in guard.

Beast tries to free his leg and advance position but Pustiu is retaining full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pustiu keeping moving, preventing Beast from controlling successfully.
Pustiu looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Pustiu can't keep his opponent in guard - Beast advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Pustiu is refusing to be controlled, as Beast sits in half guard.

Pustiu is defending against the submission attempts here by Beast.
Pustiu is in trouble now - Beast has advanced to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sorinel Pustiu dominated that round.
That's time! Pustiu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Beast misses with a takedown attempt
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Pustiu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Beast circles away quickly and effectively.
Beast has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Pustiu.
Beast darts in looking for a takedown but Pustiu gets double underhooks and turns Beast into the cage.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Pustiu here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Beast shoots in for a takedown but Pustiu shows good takedown defense.
Sorinel Pustiu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jozef Beast.

Beast drops back looking for a leg! Pustiu is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pustiu manages to kick Beast off! Beast jumps back into Pustiu's guard.

Beast is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Beast not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Pustiu gets to his feet. Beast looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Beast throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pustiu tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Beast is in Pustiu's guard.

Pustiu pushes Beast off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Beast shoots in for a takedown but Pustiu shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pustiu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pustiu wants it to stay on the feet.

Pustiu gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Beast to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Pustiu wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Beast manages to pass to side control.

Beast wants to work for an arm triangle but Pustiu is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Beast prevents Pustiu from standing back up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pustiu wants to improve his position but Beast is controlling well.

Beast passes to full mount!

Beast working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Pustiu turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Beast off and cradles Pustiu's limp body as Beast celebrates with his corner.
