Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Roper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Waves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Waves's choice of entrance music: ScHoolboy Q - Groovy Tony. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Roper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trent Waves!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waves misses with a looping left.
Waves swings widly with a right hand
and Roper cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A telegraphed right hand from Roper misses the target.
A shot to the liver by Waves. Beautiful body shot.
Waves misses with the combination.

Roper forces Waves back against the cage and clinches.
Waves prevents a body shot from Roper.
Roper lands a nice shot to the body.
Roper digs a right hand underneath Waves's ribcage. Waves let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Roper scores with a shot to the side of Waves's head.
Waves tries a body shot but Roper blocks it.

Waves escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Waves digs a good body shot into Roper's ribs.
Roper definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Waves displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Roper throws out the jab.

Waves looks to land a left hand but Roper moved out of range nicely.

Waves throws the left hand but Roper avoids the punch easily.
Waves lands with an uppercut that bounces Roper off the cage and back into range.
Waves throws a hook to the side of Roper's head but Roper sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Roper fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Waves, pushing him back against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Roper creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
