PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cletus McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake The Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDonald comes to the cage accompanied by Merle Haggard - Okie From Muskogee. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cletus McDonald !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake The Dog!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald fails with a takedown attempt.
McDonald changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. The Dog tries to avoid it but McDonald manages to keep hold of a leg and drag The Dog to the ground. The Dog escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
McDonald jabs at The Dog's body.

The Dog gets caught napping as McDonald dives in and scores a takedown. The Dog manages to retain guard.
McDonald stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Dog swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The Dog looking to hit a scissor sweep but McDonald is one step ahead there.
McDonald slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The Dog looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! McDonald has picked The Dog up and slammed him! The Dog can't keep hold of the triangle and McDonald manages to pass to side control!
The Dog has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

McDonald remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The Dog lands a straight punch to the body, keeping McDonald at a distance.

The Dog fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McDonald .

McDonald shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McDonald was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
McDonald has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for The Dog!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McDonald manages to capitalize on a mistake by The Dog to take his back!
McDonald is hanging on to The Dog's back as he tries to escape.
The Dog is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

McDonald working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

You can see the frustration on The Dog's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
McDonald seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down The Dog for as long as he can get away with.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

McDonald slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The Dog is trying to stand back up but McDonald is controlling him
McDonald is keen to just control but The Dog is a slippery customer.
Well, if McDonald is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cletus McDonald is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McDonald gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and The Dog makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

McDonald is looking to advance position but The Dog won't allow it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for McDonald , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
