The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vivian throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mera sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mera feints the counter takedown.
Vivian scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mera is looking to reverse the position.
Vivian misses with the ground and pound.
Mera is trying to improve his position.
Vivian is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mera has escaped the position, nice work there.

Vivian thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mera's head.
Vivian is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mera defends it well.

and Mera counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Mera looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vivian with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mera is working for a kimura but Vivian is defending it quite comfortably.
Mera seems to be looking for submissions.
Vivian is doing well to control the position and prevent Mera from advancing to side control.
