These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoover lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Strike circles away quickly and effectively.
No luck for Strike with that takedown attempt.
Hoover with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Hoover lands a front kick.
Strike closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hoover circles away.

Strike shoots in and bounces Hoover off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Strike throws a big right hand that misses.

Hoover has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Strike off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Lucky Strike seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Strike goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hoover has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Strike but great work by Hoover.
Strike is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Hoover is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Strike swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Hoover blocks Strike's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Hoover wants to control the pace but Strike is squirming around nicely.

Despite being in the dominant position, Franklin Hoover just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hoover digs a good hook to Strike's body.
No luck for Hoover with that takedown attempt.
Hoover throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Strike.

and Hoover counters with a two punch combo.
Hoover connects with a nice looking jab.

Strike tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hoover paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hoover plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Strike dodges the punch combination from Hoover.
Strike takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Hoover pushes Strike up against the cage in a clinch.

Hoover ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hoover no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Strike throwing strikes from guard but Hoover blocks nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoover is controlling Strike's posture.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hoover uses the cage to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nice body kick there by Hoover.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hoover with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Hoover goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Hoover turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Hoover shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Strike's guard.
Hoover lands a couple of decent looking shots.

A kick lands to the mid section there for Hoover.
Hoover scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Strike is rocked!
Hoover drops Strike with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Strike! Hoover dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
