PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Renan Melo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Larusso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melo's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Fireball - Pitbull. Larusso has chosen Glory of love as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Renan Melo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Daniel Larusso!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Andrew Berry and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melo avoids the head kick by Larusso.
Melo swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Melo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A bone on bone clash there as Melo blocks the leg kick.
Melo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Larusso sprawls and moves away.
Melo thows a leg kick but Larusso checks it
and Larusso counters with a good low kick that Melo was not able to check.
Melo misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Larusso counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Melo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Larusso has time to react.
Melo ducks right into an uppercut from Larusso.
Melo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A little feinted left hand from Melo on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Melo checks the leg kick.
Melo's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Larusso connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Melo scrambles back to his feet.
Larusso cracks Melo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Melo misses with a takedown
and Larusso counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Larusso throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fighters circling - Larusso throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Melo tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Larusso is able to avoid easily.
Melo has his takedown stuffed
and Larusso counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Melo thinking.

Melo has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Melo there as he acknowledges the shot.
Larusso misses with a wild body shot.
Melo blocks a leg kick.
Melo shoots in but Larusso avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renan Melo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Melo lands a leg kick that knocks Larusso off balance momentarily.
Larusso lands a nice hook to Melo's body. Melo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Melo chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Larusso can pounce on him.
Larusso swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Melo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Larusso.
Daniel Larusso is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Larusso feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Melos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Larusso lands with a kick to the temple. Melo shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Larusso takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Larusso has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Melo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Larusso fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Melo is out of range.

Larusso changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Larusso is looking to slow Melo down with leg kicks.
Melo tries to clinch up but Larusso circles away and keeps his distance.
Larusso dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Melo doesn't manage to clinch there - Larusso circles away.
Melo throws an ugly left hook that misses
enabling Larusso to counter with a crisp jab.
Melo fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Larusso is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Melo had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Melo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Larusso defends well and Melo ends up having to push Larusso into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Larusso fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Melo manages to avoid it.
Larusso lands with a nice body kick.
Larusso lands a nice looking body shot.
Larusso is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Melo rather than just go for the knockout.
A clash of legs there as Larusso blocks the low kick.
Larusso swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Larusso swings for the body but Melo moves out of range.

Good leg kick by Melo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Melo uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
It looks like Melo has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Melo avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Melo is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Melo takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Melo cracks Larusso with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Larusso fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Melo to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Melo looks to clinch but Larusso throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Melo taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
