PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leroy Bater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell comes into a darkened arena with his song building. DMX - Its dark and hell is hot kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Quinton Liddell enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leroy Bater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quinton Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bater moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Bater forces Liddell back against the cage and clinches.
Liddell is trying to break free.
Bater has a couple of punches blocked by Liddell.
Bater lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Bater prevents Liddell from breaking the clinch.
Bater scores with a nice hook to the head.
A bit of stalling here from Bater.

Bater swings wildly with an uppercut but Liddell uses good head movement to avoid it.

Bater seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Liddell is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Bater makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Bater is pressed up against the cage. Liddell has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bater down to the mat. Bater avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bater shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Liddell as he avoids it easily.

Liddell throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nice uppercut lands for Liddell. That snapped Bater's head back.

Bater fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Liddell sprawls well initially but Bater persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bater is breathing heavily.
Liddell gets back to full guard.
Bater won't allow Liddell to get back to his feet.
Liddell looking for a sweep. Not yet Liddell, not yet.
Bater trying to control the position from guard on top but Liddell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Liddell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bater gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bater content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Bater wants to control from the top but Liddell keeps moving.
Bater seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Liddell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Liddell had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bater is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Liddell Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bater's back instead.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Liddell is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Liddell dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Bater fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Liddell, pushing him back against the cage.

Liddell gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Bater is pressing down on Liddell's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Liddell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bater swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bater bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Liddell's guard.

Bater controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Bater passes Liddell's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Liddell is looking to control Bater's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Liddell avoid being mounted?

Bater stands up out of the half guard.
Bater darts in trying to clinch
and Liddell cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Liddell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bater looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bater wants to clinch.
Bater misses with a takedown attempt - Liddell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Bater wants to clinch up but Liddell keeps it at a distance.
Bater pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Liddell clobbers Bater with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Bater tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Liddell paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bater throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

and Liddell counters with a stiff right hand.
Bater moves into range and connects with a jab.
Liddell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bater moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Liddell cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bater doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Liddell has a takedown stuffed.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Liddell.

Liddell throws a right hand that Bater ducks under and follows up with a left that Bater also avoids with ease.
Bater tries to clinch but Liddell moves away

and Liddell holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Bater lands with a right to the head.
Bater lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Liddell backwards.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bater shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Liddell counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Liddell.

Bater looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Liddell drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bater pulls his leg out and moves away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Quinton Liddell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Liddell winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
