PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lando Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Kshymensky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lando Vera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jesse Kshymensky !
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vera loads up on a big right hand but Kshymensky slips the punch.
Vera lands a head shot.


It looks like Jesse Kshymensky has been cut.

Vera connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kshymensky . Kshymensky circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Kshymensky looks to land a combination but Vera avoids it well.
Kshymensky scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Vera swings widly with a right hand

and Kshymensky counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kshymensky passes into side control, despite Vera's attempt to control the position.
Vera is trying to control Kshymensky 's posture but Kshymensky avoids it.
Vera definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Vera defending against the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Vera's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Vera trying to control but Kshymensky flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vera covers up after that shot from Kshymensky .
Kshymensky struggling to land strikes to the head as Vera covers up.

Kshymensky is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Vera wants to control his opponent's hands but Kshymensky gets his hands free.
Kshymensky somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Vera looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Kshymensky goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Vera escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Vera is looking for a kimura here.

Vera is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kshymensky doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Vera.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kshymensky moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Vera trying to control but Kshymensky is working from the bottom.
Kshymensky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Vera drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kshymensky dives on top into guard.

Vera is trying to keep Kshymensky in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kshymensky chips away with some ground and pound.
Kshymensky lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Vera keeping full guard, as Kshymensky tries to pass.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kshymensky postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A combination from Kshymensky does no damage.
Vera throwing a counter right hand but Kshymensky manages to avoid it.
Kshymensky has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Vera lands with a good body shot.
The crowd cheers as Kshymensky lands an impressive looking overhand right. Vera doesn't seem phased though.
Vera scores with a jab to the jaw.


Kshymensky is rocked!
Kshymensky gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Vera points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Kshymensky wakes up just in time to hear Vera thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Lando Vera!
