Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Craig Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Mewes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Craig Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Mewes!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mewes throws a counter combo.
A nice combination there by Mewes.
Mewes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mewes misses with a body punch
and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jones.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Craig Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones connects with a high kick.
Mewes lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Mewes.

Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mewes avoids it really well and circles away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mewes throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mewes pinned against the cage. Mewes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
As Jones backs off Mewes throws a huge counter combo but Jones manages to avoid it all.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Mewes manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Mewes gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Mewes is keeping the position.
Jones looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Mewes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jones scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Mewes is retaining full guard.

Mewes manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Mewes gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jones.
Jones is looking for a takedown.

Mewes has clasped his hands together around Jones's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Mewes lands some shots froms side control.
Mewes cracks Jones with a big elbow.
Jones connects with an elbow from the bottom.
Mewes wants to take a breather but Jones manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Mewes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mewes paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mewes with the counter takedown but Jones avoids it easily.

Mewes appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mewes scores with a shot to the side of Jones's head.

Mewes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Mewes moves out of range easily.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mewes tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mewes to the ground. Mewes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Craig Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by Mewes.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mewes as he jumps to the side.
Mewes thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Jones if he has to take too many more of those.

Mewes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mewes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mewes distracts Jones with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Jones isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mewes stacks Jones on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mewes!
Mewes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mewes remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Jason Mewes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Jones flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Jones is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mewes pulls his head out easily.
Mewes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Mewes takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mewes performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Mewes not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Jones keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mewes throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mewes wants to free his trapped foot but Jones is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mewes blocks a head kick by Jones.
Mewes moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Mewes lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Jones has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Jones and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Mewes wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Mewes stands up over Jones, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mewes throws a big elbow that misses.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Mewes moves out of range easily.
Jones is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mewes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Jones takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Craig Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jason Mewes is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jones has his takedown stuffed
and Mewes counters with a big head kick but Jones shrugs it off.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jason Mewes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mewes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
