The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russ closes the distance but McSlamm moves to the side

so McSlamm counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Russ really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McSlamm. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McSlamm postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Russ looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Russ wants to sweep but no luck.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McSlamm is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Russ is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Russ takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
McSlamm works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Russ is trying to get back to half guard.
McSlamm lands a nice forearm strike.
McSlamm lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Russ down.

Russ throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
McSlamm has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McSlamm lands a strong strike to the head of Russ. That's dazed him! McSlamm looking to finish here. Russ is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - McSlamm lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

After the fight, Sara McSlamm was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
