PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Louis Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aldo Vurny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordon kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Battle Born - 5FDP. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gordon has closed the distance and engaged Vurny in a clinch.
Vurny blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Vurny drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gordon pulls his leg out and moves away.
Gordon pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Vurny has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Gordon is landing a low percentage of strikes.
A head kick from Gordon lands but Vurny takes it in his stride.

It looks like Aldo Vurny has been cut.

Vurny uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gordon.
Gordon turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

and Vurny counters with a shoot takedown. Gordon fights it but they end up in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gordon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vurny is working away from the top position though.

Vurny is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Gordon has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Vurny has hold of Gordon's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gordon manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Vurny cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Gordon is rocked!
Vurny pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Oh Gordon is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gordon is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gordon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Vurny was well out of range. Poor timing from Gordon.

Gordon lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Gordon smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Vurny is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gordon defends it well.

Vurny has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Gordon defend it? Vurny steps over the head and cranks it - Gordon is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Vurny!

Aldo Vurny spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
