PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Georgy Fokin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiu Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Georgy Fokin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jiu Jitsu!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fokin with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The fighters circle momentarily. Fokin darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Jitsu keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jitsu uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fokin.
A left lands for Fokin.
Fokin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jitsu.
Fokin scores with a jab to the head.
Jitsu shoots for a double leg takedown but Fokin sprawls well. He's pushed Jitsu's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jitsu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fokin pulls Jitsu in close to prevent any damage.
Jitsu makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fokin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jitsu postures up in Fokin's guard and throws a big left but Fokin blocks it.

Jitsu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fokin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jitsu drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fokin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jitsu has Fokin in his guard.


Jitsu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fokin defends it easily.

Jitsu is looking for a triangle but Fokin pushes his legs off easily.
Fokin lands a couple of elbows.

Jitsu looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Fokin has picked Jitsu up and slammed him! Jitsu can't keep hold of the triangle and Fokin manages to pass to side control!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Fokin lands a nice short elbow.
Fokin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jitsu keeps working.

We've been hearing good reports from Fokin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Jitsu tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fokin defends well and Jitsu ends up having to push Fokin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fokin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jitsu is looking to escape.

Fokin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jitsu swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fokin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jitsu tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fokin is in Jitsu's guard.
Jitsu is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jitsu has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Fokin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jitsu.
