Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Willian Robles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chuck Smith has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Willian Robles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chuck Smith!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robles blocks the body kick.

Robles drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Robles just content to control the position.
Robles throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Smith is trying to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robles takes a little break here. Smith wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Robles seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Smith for as long as he can get away with.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.

Robles tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Robles remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Robles wants to stand but Smith is controlling his arm.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Smith tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Robles presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Robles lands a nice shot to the head.
Robles lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Smith is in all sorts of trouble here.

Robles has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Robles is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Robles takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Robles lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Smith wants to hold on but Robles pushes him away.

Smith is in a horrible position here. Robles smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Robles cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Smith is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Robles looking to finish Smith with some ground and pound. This is bad for Smith!

Robles has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Robles.
Robles tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Smith gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Smith is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Robles gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

It looks like Willian Robles has been cut.

Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Robles to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Robles controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Robles.

Robles chips away with some ground and pound.
Smith looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Smith has a closed guard, preventing Robles from standing up.
Robles seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Robles decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Smith, up you get!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The fight stays on the outside here - Robles looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Robles takes the fight into the clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Smith as Robles tries to tie him up.
Robles is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smith can do to turn this around?
Robles tries to stall but Smith uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Robles can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Robles wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Robles is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control.
Smith is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Robles avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Robles would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Smith wants to hit a switch here but Robles passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Smith there!

Smith can't escape the position.
Robles postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Smith looks a forlorn figure.
Robles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Robles takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Smith tries to hold on but Robles pushes him away.
Smith is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Robles controlling the pace for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A low kick from Smith is predictable there
and Robles counters with a three punch combo that has Smith backing up. Smith nods at Robles to acknowledge the strikes.
Smith throws a series of punches but Robles avoids them all with ease.
Robles thinks about countering with a body kick.
Smith lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Robles closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.
Robles wants to get up but he can't break Smith's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Smith throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Robles escapes and throws Smith's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Robles is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Smith's shoulder. That is not cool.

Robles stands up and beckons Smith to his feet.
Robles is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.

Robles closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Robles has Smith pressed against the cage.

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Smith throws a predictable looking body shot
and Robles counters with a left and a right that stings Smith.
Robles is looking to clinch.
Robles tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Robles swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
As Smith looks to move away, Robles throws a big counter combo but Smith just gets out of the way.
Willian Robles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Crunch! Smith slams his shin into Robles's torso.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Smith.
Smith scores with a kick to the midsection.

Smith scores with a spinning back kick!
Chuck Smith seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smith fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Smith buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Robles wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
A head kick misses from Smith.
Smith throws a body kick that misses.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Robles sprawls well. Robles wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Smith misses with a wild combination.

Robles dives in and scores a takedown into Smith's guard.
Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Robles is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Smith has a closed guard, preventing Robles from standing up.

Chuck Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Robles's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Robles has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smith is proving hard to escape from.
Smith seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Robles counters with a one-two to the body.
Willian Robles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Smith.
Smith throws a half hearted mid kick.
Robles doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Willian Robles is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Robles avoids the head kick by Smith.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Willian Robles.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Robles, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
