PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ian Behring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Roussow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Behring!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Ken Roussow!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Behring fails with the takedown
and Roussow counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Roussow shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Behring napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Roussow takes a little break here. Behring wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Roussow working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Behring is working to avoid the ground and pound but Roussow connects with a decent elbow.
Roussow creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Behring regains half guard.
Roussow working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Still in half guard, Roussow seems content to control.
Roussow looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Behring with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Behring has his foot on Roussow's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Roussow works his way back into a safe position though.

Roussow lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Roussow got a little sloppy there for a moment and Behring has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Roussow has managed to get both his arms back between Behring's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Behring looking for a guillotine here but Roussow defends easily.
Roussow is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Let's hope that Roussow has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Behring escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roussow gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Roussow controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Roussow lands a couple of elbows.

Roussow trying to control the position from guard on top but Behring is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Behring has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Roussow can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Behring's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Roussow shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Roussow lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Roussow fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Behring sprawls well initially but Roussow persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Roussow is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Behring!
Behring is looking to improve his position but Roussow isn't that keen on the idea.
Behring bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Roussow is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Roussow is pulling down on Behring's head to control his posture.

Behring drops back, looking for a kneebar! Roussow looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Roussow looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Roussow!

Roussow is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Behring is just riding it out for now. Roussow eventually gives up the hold.

Behring has hold of Roussow's hands but Roussow slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Behring is trying to control but can't.
Roussow frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Roussow lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Roussow can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Behring is looking to escape.

Behring is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Roussow scores with a couple of nice shots.

Roussow perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Ken Roussow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Behring is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Roussow lands a shoulder strike.

Behring jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Roussow walks away with a smile on his face. Behring gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roussow shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Roussow was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The referee asks Roussow politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Roussow prefers to stall for the moment though.

Roussow is looking to take a break and control but Behring is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Roussow is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Behring will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Roussow tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Roussow is continuing to stall.
Ian Behring has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Roussow has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
