Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shannon Atkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarrod Dyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atkins moves in looking to clinch but Dyson pushes him off.

Atkins tries to keep at a distance but Dyson has taken the fight into the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Atkins - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Dyson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

It looks like Shannon Atkins has been cut.
Dyson lands a knee to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Atkins.
Atkins has Dyson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dyson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Atkins bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dyson's guard.

Atkins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dyson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Atkins controls the pace.

Atkins gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Dyson dives in and scores a takedown into Atkins's guard.

Atkins regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Dyson.

Dyson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Atkins is trying to defend but Dyson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Dyson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dyson is trying to control the action in half guard but Atkins is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Dyson is looking for a kimura but Atkins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dyson to get the leverage.

Dyson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dyson connects with a nice short shot to Atkins's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dyson seems to be looking for submissions.

Dyson lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Atkins! More strikes land and this one is all over! Dyson jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
