PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Greg Scouten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Natas Reaper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scouten's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Killing in the name of. Greg Scouten has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg Scouten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Natas Reaper!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reaper throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Scouten.
Scouten avoids the head kick by Reaper.
Scouten fails with an attempt to clinch.

Reaper bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Reaper controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scouten throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Scouten stops Reaper from passing to mount.
Scouten is trying to escape the position but Reaper is controlling the position.
Scouten tries to improve position but can't.
Scouten is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Reaper's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Reaper is keen to just control but Scouten is a slippery customer.
Scouten is looking for a sweep. Reaper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Scouten regains full guard. Nicely done.

Scouten bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reaper's guard.
Scouten slips nicely into half guard.
Reaper has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Scouten is working away from the top position though.
Scouten trying to mount his opponent but Reaper defends it.
Scouten looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Reaper with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Scouten not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Scouten working over Reaper with some ground and pound. Reaper looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Reaper has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Scouten is working away from the top position though.

Scouten throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Scouten moves nicely into side control.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Reaper prevents Scouten from improving position.
Reaper manages to work his way to half guard, despite Scouten's best efforts.
Scouten tries to pass the half guard into mount. Reaper knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Reaper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Scouten. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Scouten is breathing heavily.
Scouten landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The fighters are battling for position here. Reaper manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Scouten pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Reaper is keeping the position for now.

Scouten postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Reaper is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Scouten, into his guard.
Scouten could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Reaper slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Reaper passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Scouten is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Reaper working over Scouten with some ground and pound. Scouten looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Reaper trying to control the action but Scouten is working from the bottom.
Reaper drops an elbow to the side of Scouten's head.
Reaper is trying to control the action in half guard but Scouten is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Scouten wants to improve his position but Reaper is controlling well.
Reaper not doing much here.
Scouten is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Reaper scores with a couple of nice shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Greg Scouten will probably get the nod.
That's time! Scouten's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Scouten takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Scouten with a poor takedown

and Reaper counters by clinching up.
Scouten working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Scouten goes for a takedown attempt but Reaper pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Reaper gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Reaper gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Scouten.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greg Scouten. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Reaper pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Scouten has his takedown stuffed

and Reaper decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Scouten's guard.
Reaper passes Scouten's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Reaper winds up and cracks Scouten with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Scouten wants to improve his position but Reaper is controlling well.
Reaper is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Reaper trying to control the action but Scouten is working from the bottom.
Reaper is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Scouten is trying to get back to full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Reaper looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Reaper content to control rather than advance.
Scouten is looking for a sweep. Reaper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Reaper is nestled in close to Scouten, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Reaper in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Scouten tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Reaper!
