Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Travis Gillespie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Almeida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Travis Gillespie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Danny Almeida!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almeida stuffs the takedown.
Almeida darts in looking for a takedown but Gillespie gets double underhooks and turns Almeida into the cage.
Almeida dives in for a single leg takedown but Gillespie sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Almeida thuds his right hand into Gillespie's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Almeida throws a right and a left that both miss.

Almeida closes the distance and pushes Gillespie back into the cage.

Almeida breaks from the clinch.

Almeida gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Gillespie has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Almeida uses from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gillespie scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Gillespie tried to counter with a leg kick but Almeida avoided it.

Almeida jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gillespie walks away with a smile on his face. Almeida gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Almeida rushes Gillespie and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Gillespie successfully pulls guard.

Gillespie looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Almeida passes into side control.
Gillespie is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Gillespie regains half guard, as Almeida was trying to land strikes.
Almeida throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Almeida is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gillespie wants to get back to his feet.

Almeida not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Almeida prevents Gillespie from standing back up.
Gillespie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Almeida is working for a kimura but Gillespie is defending it quite comfortably.
Almeida keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Almeida thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gillespie's head.
Almeida has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Almeida is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gillespie defends it well.
Gillespie is trying to stand up here but Almeida is controlling him well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Almeida has closed the distance and engaged Gillespie in a clinch.
Gillespie tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Almeida just stands there and leans against the cage.

Almeida pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gillespie tries to clinch up but Almeida circles away and keeps his distance.
Almeida is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Almeida closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gillespie is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Almeida pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Gillespie drives through and clinches with Almeida against the cage.

Gillespie throws a jab but it's blocked by Almeida.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Almeida has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Almeida fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gillespie pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Almeida throws a right hand that Gillespie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gillespie also avoids with ease.

and Gillespie connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Almeida throws a head kick that misses.
Almeida throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gillespie's waist but Gillespie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Almeida off to one side.
Almeida slaps away a takedown attempt from Gillespie, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Almeida wants to counter with a clinch but Gillespie pushes him away.

Almeida drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Almeida jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Almeida moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
No luck for Almeida with that takedown attempt.
Gillespie throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Almeida tries to pull guard but Gillespie holds him up against the cage and eventually Almeida drops back down to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Almeida doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Gillespie counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Almeida is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Almeida closes the distance and clinches up with Gillespie, looking for a takedown. Almeida pushes Gillespie against the cage but Gillespie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

And Gillespie counters with a quick kick to the body but Almeida blocks it.

Gillespie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Almeida as he jumps to the side.

Gillespie jumps guard but Almeida stands there with Gillespie around his waist. Gillespie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
