PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Theothrastus Bombastus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sanjit Babatunde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Babatunde looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Well, if Babatunde is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

It looks like Babatunde might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Bombastus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Babatunde doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Babatunde manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Babatunde must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Babatunde is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Babatunde shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bombastus napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Babatunde tries to score with some ground and pound. Bombastus controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Babatunde connects with a nice short shot to Bombastus's temple.

Well Babatunde has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
