Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Norman Pederson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jemmy Dean!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pederson has Dean up against the cage in a clinch.
Pederson looking to stall.
Dean tries to score a body lock takedown but Pederson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Pederson leaning against his opponent.
Our sources have told us that Pederson has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Dean's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Pederson tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Dean successfully pulls guard.

Dean throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Pederson escapes and throws Dean's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Pederson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dean keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pederson wants to control for a moment but Dean uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Dean wants to improve his position but Pederson is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pederson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dean with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Dean regains full guard. Nicely done.
Dean is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Pederson is defending against the submission attempts here by Dean.
Pederson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dean.
Dean prevents Pederson from improving his position.

Dean is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dean looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pederson wants to control but Dean is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dean is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Pederson!

Dean goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pederson turns into him and now he's in Dean's guard.

Dean is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pederson is aware though and is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pederson wants to control from the top but Dean keeps moving.
Pederson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Dean told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Dean wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Dean looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pederson prevents Dean from getting back to his feet.
Dean tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dean not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pederson's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dean looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dean looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dean keeping moving, preventing Pederson from controlling successfully.
Pederson prevents Dean from getting back to his feet.

Pederson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Dean wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pederson trying to control but Dean is working from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Dean looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Pederson is defending well. Dean quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Pederson has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Dean celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
