Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keenan Rosales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Avon Barksdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Keenan Rosales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Avon Barksdale!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rosales has taken the fight to the clinch.
Barksdale looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Barksdale misses with a punch to the body.
Barksdale told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Rosales has hold of one of Barksdale's legs. Barksdale is fighting the takedown attempt but Rosales gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Barksdale has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Rosales wants to stand and escape but instead Barksdale has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Rosales is pulling down on Barksdale's head. It's preventing any offense from Barksdale, at least for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rosales looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Barksdale looking to sit in guard and control but Rosales gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Rosales decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Rosales dives in for a single leg takedown but Barksdale sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Barksdale closes the distance and clinches.
Barksdale has had enough of the clinch but Rosales keeps him there for the moment.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Rosales takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
A bit of stalling here from Rosales.
Rosales is pushing Barksdale up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Rosales seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Barksdale wants to control but Rosales passes easily into half guard.

Rosales gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rosales.
Rosales sets himself, and Barksdale steps forward looking for the clinch! Rosales avoids it this time.

Rosales looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Rosales shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Barksdale sprawls well. Barksdale wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rosales gets slowly back to his feet.

Barksdale manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rosales on his heels. He'll look to pass Rosales's guard now, I'm sure.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rosales holds on and takes a little breather.
Barksdale wants to control from the top but Rosales keeps moving.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Barksdale is looking to stand up but Rosales won't let him.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Avon Barksdale will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Rosales dives in for a single leg takedown but Barksdale sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Barksdale now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Rosales goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Barksdale breaks the clinch.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Rosales crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Barksdale - the referee stops the clock and Rosales gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Barksdale. Rosales manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rosales shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Barksdale defends it nicely.

Rosales bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Rosales shoots for a takedown but Barksdale saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Barksdale closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rosales to the mat! Rosales manages to get full guard.

Rosales is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rosales throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Barksdale tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rosales is in Barksdale's guard.

Rosales decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Rosales fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barksdale sprawls well initially but Rosales persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Barksdale wants to stand back up but Rosales manages to pass into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keenan Rosales dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Rosales shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Barksdale as he jumps to the side.
Crunch! Rosales slams his shin into Barksdale's torso.
Rosales wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barksdale forces Rosales back against the cage and clinches.
Barksdale takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Rosales slowing the pace effectively.

Rosales jumps guard.
Barksdale passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Rosales regains half guard.
Rosales is trying is best to control the position here.
Rosales wants to get back to full guard.
Rosales gets full guard.
Rosales is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rosales is looking for a triangle here but Barksdale uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Rosales is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Barksdale stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Barksdale swats away the attempt to clinch by Rosales.

Rosales tries to score a power double leg takedown but Barksdale sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rosales somewhat.
Barksdale wants to counter with a clinch but Rosales pushes him away.

and Barksdale counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Barksdale prevents a body shot from Rosales.
Barksdale is pressed up against the cage. Rosales has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barksdale down to the mat. Barksdale avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Barksdale pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Rosales tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Barksdale counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rosales goes for a double leg but Barksdale avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Barksdale continues to drive forward.

Barksdale darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Barksdale wants to free his trapped foot but Rosales is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rosales tries to get to full guard but Barksdale has control of the leg.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Barksdale postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Rosales to stand up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Avon Barksdale comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Barksdale has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
