Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eric Walters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Schaeffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Schaeffer has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Eric Walters's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Walters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Schaeffer!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walters gets caught napping as Schaeffer dives in and scores a takedown. Walters manages to retain guard.

Walters manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Walters is fighting off a takedown attempt but Schaeffer is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Walters to the mat. Walters regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Walters pushes Schaeffer off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Schaeffer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Walters tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Schaeffer is in Walters's guard.

Schaeffer prevents Walters from getting back to his feet.
Walters trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Schaeffer stays in close to Walters's body and controls the position.
Walters has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Schaeffer trying to control the position from guard on top but Walters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Schaeffer looking to sit in guard and control but Walters gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Walters postures up in Schaeffer's guard and throws a big left but Schaeffer blocks it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walters decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Schaeffer, up you get!

Schaeffer scores with a takedown into Walters's guard.
Walters wants to stand but Schaeffer is controlling the position.
Walters is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


That's two minutes gone in the round.

Walters stands up out of the half guard.
Walters throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Walters misses with a two punch combination.
Schaeffer wants to clinch up but Walters keeps it at a distance.
As Schaeffer tries to get set, Walters tries to push him back and clinch up but Schaeffer manages to avoid the attempt.

Schaeffer shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Schaeffer seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walters does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Walters is looking to improve his position.
Schaeffer is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walters is refusing to be controlled, as Schaeffer sits in half guard.

Walters is defending against the submission attempts here by Schaeffer.

Schaeffer tries to pass the half guard into mount. Walters knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Walters is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Walters shoots in for a takedown but Schaeffer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Schaeffer wants to counter with a clinch but Walters pushes him away.
Walters wants to clinch but Schaeffer slips to the side
and Schaeffer counters with a right hand to the body.
Schaeffer lands a head kick!

Schaeffer looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Walters!

Walters throws Schaeffer to one side and escapes!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Schaeffer lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Walters has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Walters and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Walters shoots in but no luck this time.
Schaeffer is looking for the big counter here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Walters dominated that round.
That's time! Walters's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Schaeffer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Walters looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Walters throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Schaeffer closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Walters quickly recovers to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Walters manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Schaeffer keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Walters wants to get back to striking at distance but Schaeffer won't allow it.

Schaeffer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Walters throws Schaeffer to one side and escapes!
Walters is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Schaeffer can do to turn this around?
Schaeffer is breathing heavily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Walters shoots in but Schaeffer avoids the takedown attempt easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Walters enables Schaeffer to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Walters manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Walters manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Schaeffer lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Walters makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Schaeffer wants to clinch.
Walters is looking for a counter combo.
Walters ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Schaeffer moves away.
Schaeffer is looking for the big counter here.
Walters tries to clinch but Schaeffer is having none of it.
Walters throws a combination that misses
and Schaeffer counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Walters thinking.
Walters avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Schaeffer shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Walters is doing well to control the position and prevent Schaeffer from advancing to side control.
Walters is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Schaeffer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Schaeffer's back!
Walters is not going to allow Schaeffer to sit and survive in this position.
Schaeffer is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Walters has managed to slip his arm under Schaeffer's chin. This could be all over... yep, Schaeffer is tapping out! Submission win for Walters.
