PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Koulouraki Souvlaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phat Ho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Souvlaki's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Greek Anthem. Ho is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water. Phat Ho is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Koulouraki Souvlaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phat Ho!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souvlaki throws a hook but Ho blocks it.
Ho lands a nice shot that snaps Souvlaki's head back.
Souvlaki takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Souvlaki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ho was covering up waiting for the punch and Souvlaki finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Souvlaki throws an elbow that misses. Ho uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Souvlaki's guard. Nice move by Ho!


Souvlaki is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ho defends well.
Souvlaki wants to sweep but no luck.

Souvlaki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ho's guard.

Ho really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Souvlaki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

and Ho counters with a nice body shot.
Ho has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Souvlaki is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Ho swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ho throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Ho.
Ho throws a push kick but Souvlaki slaps the foot to one side.
Souvlaki swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Souvlaki counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ho won't be happy with that.

Ho explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Souvlaki throws the left hand but Ho avoids the punch easily.
Ho scores with a kick to the midsection.
Ho throws a head kick that misses.
Souvlaki looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ho throws the kick towards the body but Souvlaki avoids it.
Ho lands with a slapping head kick.
Phat Ho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Souvlaki avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ho connects with a nice looking jab.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ho.

Ho is looking to land body kicks.
Souvlaki bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Souvlaki ducks under a wild hook from Ho.
Ho pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Nice body kick from Ho.
Souvlaki looks to score with a jab to the body but Ho is just out of range.

Souvlaki is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ho's half guard.

Ho manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Souvlaki keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the ropes.
Ho misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Souvlaki is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Ho can't fight it off and eventually Souvlaki manages to take the fight to the floor. Ho looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Souvlaki advances to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phat Ho dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jab, jab by Ho - just one landing.
Souvlaki shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ho as he jumps to the side.
Ho ducks under a wild hook from Souvlaki.

Ho tries to sprawl but Souvlaki drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ho can do anything to dispel that myth.
Souvlaki is keen to just control but Ho is a slippery customer.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Souvlaki throws a strike but Ho rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ho has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Souvlaki to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Ho is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Souvlaki pulls down on the head and he's put Ho to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Koulouraki Souvlaki!
