PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Edgar Bowen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anthony Pettis will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edgar Bowen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pettis gets a takedown into half guard.
Pettis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bowen keeps working.

Pettis is working for a kimura but Bowen is defending it quite comfortably.
Bowen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pettis trying to control the action but Bowen is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pettis decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Pettis looks for the body kick but Bowen saw that one coming.
Bowen seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bowen drives through with a takedown into Pettis's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Pettis wants to stand up but Bowen is controlling him.
Bowen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bowen tries to clinch up but Pettis circles away and keeps his distance.

Pettis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bowen was covering up waiting for the punch and Pettis finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Bowen has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Pettis is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Bowen.

Bowen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Pettis is trying to trip Bowen. He has hold of a leg but Bowen is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Pettis persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bowen is looking to work some ground and pound but Pettis has wrist control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Pettis feints and as Bowen raises his hands in defense, Pettis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

As Pettis tries to get set, Bowen tries to push him back and clinch up but Pettis manages to avoid the attempt.
Edgar Bowen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Anthony Pettis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I would just about give that final round to Anthony Pettis.
I've got Pettis winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
