Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emmett Burch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boss Boss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emmett Burch had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Emmett Burch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Boss Boss!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boss gets a takedown into half guard.

Boss decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Burch gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Boss to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Boss wants to control from the top but Burch keeps moving.
Burch wants to sweep here but Boss controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burch wants to stand and escape but Boss is having none of it.
Burch keeping moving, preventing Boss from controlling successfully.
Boss slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Burch pulls Boss in close to prevent any damage.

Boss stands up and waves to Burch to follow him.

Boss drives through with a takedown into guard.
Burch is wriggling around but Boss manages to pass to half guard.

Burch tries to kick Boss off but Boss keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Boss is trying to control. Burch wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Burch is concentrating on defense, preventing Boss from advancing position.

Burch is refusing to be controlled, as Boss sits in half guard.
Boss has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burch tries to lock up and control but Boss gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A nice elbow there by Boss.

Boss moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Burch has worked his arm free - good work by Burch!
Burch is holding Boss down, trying to stall.
Burch can't do much from the bottom here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Boss trying to control the position but Burch is working away.
Burch is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Burch really is a fat lump.
Burch struggling a bit here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boss Boss dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


An inside leg kick lands from Burch.
Boss misses with a few strikes there.
Boss is looking to clinch.
Emmett Burch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Boss shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Burch manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Boss with a flurry of punches that miss.

Burch isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Boss stacks Burch on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Boss!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burch is not content to let Boss control the position.

Boss decides to stand back up.
Boss throws a sloppy head kick and Burch moves out of range easily.

Boss pushes Burch up against the cage in a clinch.

Burch escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Boss just misses with a punch to the body.
Burch seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Burch tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Burch misses with a double jab
and Boss counters with a series of strikes. Burch will be more careful next time no doubt.

Boss scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Burch throws Boss to one side and escapes!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Burch gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Burch pulls Boss in close to prevent any damage.
Burch is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Boss content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Burch can't keep his opponent in guard - Boss advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Boss is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Burch sees it coming and defends easily.
Burch keeping control of the position.
Boss has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Burch is not content to let Boss control the position.
Burch has his hands clasped together around Boss's back. He's all about the action.

Boss is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Burch won't allow Boss to pass to mount.
Boss slips a nice elbow through Burch's hands, connecting with Burch's forehead.
Burch tries to kick Boss off but Boss keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Boss stalling away here and it's allowed Burch to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Burch not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Burch has Boss pulled in close to control his posture.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boss Boss showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Boss moves in looking to clinch but Burch pushes him off.
Burch jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Burch throws a low kick but Boss avoids it.

Boss decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Burch might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Boss is trying to control. Burch wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Boss seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Burch makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Burch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boss wants to clinch up but Burch keeps it at a distance.
Burch looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Burch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boss tries to clinch up but Burch circles away and keeps his distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Boss stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Burch tries to pull guard but Boss won't allow it.

Burch breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A combination from Boss does no damage.

Boss closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Burch to the mat! Burch manages to get full guard.
Boss Boss has got the better of the ground game so far.
Boss throws a strike but Burch rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Boss has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Boss wants to sweep but no luck.

Burch drops back looking for a leg! Boss is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Boss manages to kick Burch off! Burch jumps back into Boss's guard.

Burch is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Emmett Burch has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boss Boss is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Boss looking for a sweep. Not yet Boss, not yet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Emmett Burch.
Well Boss has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
