PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chase Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Vicky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chase Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Vicky!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vicky pushes Walsh up against the cage in a clinch.
Walsh keeps control of Vicky as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Walsh as Vicky tries to tie him up.
Walsh drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Vicky has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Walsh is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walsh gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Walsh not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Vicky has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Walsh can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Vicky pushes Walsh off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vicky shoots in and drives through. Walsh sprawls well.
Walsh looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Vicky tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Vicky stuns Walsh with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Walsh shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Vicky manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Brandon Vicky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Walsh shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vicky as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chase Walsh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice sprawl there from Vicky as Walsh shoots in.
Vicky shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Walsh counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Walsh.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Walsh gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Walsh stops Vicky from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vicky looks winded!

Vicky is working an open guard so Walsh takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Walsh has Vicky up against the cage in a clinch.

Walsh pulls guard successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Walsh scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Walsh gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Walsh manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Walsh blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Vicky wants to break free but Walsh has control.

Walsh gets control of Vicky's arms and successfully pulls guard. Walsh will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Vicky wants to control from the top but Walsh keeps moving.
Walsh wants to sweep but no luck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Walsh controlling the position.

Walsh manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Vicky keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Vicky will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Vicky enables Walsh to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vicky manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Walsh is working Vicky over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Walsh controlling from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chase Walsh dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Walsh shoots in but Vicky avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Chase Walsh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Vicky misses with a takedown

and Walsh counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Walsh perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Walsh decides to return to a standing position.

Walsh decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Walsh content to control rather than advance.
Vicky is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Vicky is breathing heavily.
Walsh content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walsh is nestled in close to Vicky, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Walsh working over Vicky with some ground and pound. Vicky looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Walsh is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Vicky can do to turn this around?
Walsh takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Vicky keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Walsh seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Walsh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Walsh connects with a nice short shot to Vicky's temple.
Walsh content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vicky is looking to improve his position.

Walsh escapes and gets back to his feet.
Walsh fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vicky avoids it really well and circles away.

Walsh shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Walsh showed some decent athleticism there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Walsh connects with a nice short shot to Vicky's temple.
Walsh lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Walsh takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walsh stands up and beckons Vicky to join him on the feet.

Walsh feints and as Vicky raises his hands in defense, Walsh changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vicky wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Walsh manages to pass to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.


Walsh is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Vicky is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Chase Walsh!
