Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gary Wilmot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Grove (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilmot's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Fishing for girls. Gary Wilmot has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gary Wilmot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Grove!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wilmot shoots in and gets a takedown into Grove's guard.

Grove has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Wilmot off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Wilmot takes the fight into the clinch.

Wilmot breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Wilmot instigates a clinch.
Grove drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Wilmot manages to break the clinch.

Wilmot closes the distance and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wilmot lands a body punch in the clinch.
Wilmot lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like David Grove has been cut.
Wilmot lands a damaging elbow.
Grove dodges an elbow strike from Wilmot.
Wilmot tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Grove avoids it.
Wilmot crunches a lovely knee into Grove's ribcage.

Wilmot turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Wilmot manages to end up in side control.
Wilmot working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Grove tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Wilmot content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Wilmot controlling the position.
Wilmot is looking to take a break and control but Grove is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Grove's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grove gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Grove is trying to maintain the position but Wilmot is very close to passing his half guard.
Grove is trying to stand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wilmot lands a nice short elbow.
Wilmot knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grove on the ground.
Grove on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Wilmot is looking to stall here but Grove recovers full guard.
Grove trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wilmot lands a couple of digs.
Wilmot preventing the sweep.
Wilmot chips away with some ground and pound.

Grove is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wilmot is aware though and is defending well.

Grove avoids the head kick by Wilmot.
Grove feints the counter takedown.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Wilmot.
Grove with the counter takedown but Wilmot avoids it easily.
Wilmot tries a head kick but it misses.
Wilmot is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gary Wilmot dominated that round.
The cut man is working on David Grove's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wilmot tries for a takedown but Grove sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Grove with the counter takedown but Wilmot avoids it easily.

Wilmot drives through and clinches with Grove against the cage.
Nice elbow from Wilmot.
Grove goes for a takedown attempt but Wilmot pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A left and a right from Wilmot both land. Nice combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilmot tries to clinch but Grove moves away

and Grove counters with a shoot takedown. Wilmot fights it but they end up in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wilmot tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Grove lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Wilmot is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Grove dives into side control.
David Grove has got the better of the ground game so far.

Grove is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Wilmot looks calm but he's in trouble here. Grove gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Wilmot is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Grove lets go of the hold and Wilmot can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). David Grove!
