PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Terrence Bailey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Terrence Bailey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Christian Slater!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bailey pushes Slater up against the cage in a clinch.
Bailey jumps guard but Slater stands there with Bailey around his waist. Bailey gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bailey has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Slater uses from the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bailey tries to buck Slater off but he can't manage it.

Slater looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Slater won't let Bailey get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Bailey swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Bailey's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Bailey tries to hold on but Slater postures up.
Bailey is wriggling around trying to escape.
Bailey is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Slater connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Slater won't let Bailey get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Christian Slater dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Slater shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Bailey eats them both and turns towards Slater to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Slater darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Bailey trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Slater is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bailey's half guard.
Slater scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Bailey makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Slater gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bailey throws a strike but Slater rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Bailey lands a decent punch to the body there.

Bailey looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Slater is defending well. Bailey quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Slater has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Bailey celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
