PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Reko Mehtala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Jitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mehtala comes to the cage accompanied by Koto - Jabdah. Jitz has chosen Sleepwalking by Blindside as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Reko Mehtala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Jitz!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jitz tries to clinch there but Mehtala circles away.
Jitz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mehtala.
Mehtala misses with a wild combination.
Jitz dodges the punch combination from Mehtala.
Jitz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mehtala.
Mehtala takes one to the chin there.
Jitz dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mehtala shoots in and drives through. Jitz sprawls well.
Mehtala takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Jitz moves in looking to clinch but Mehtala pushes him off.

Mehtala takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

and Mehtala decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jitz's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mehtala is looking to advance position but Jitz has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Mehtala tries to hold on but Jitz pushes him away.
Mehtala knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jitz on the ground.
Mehtala wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

and Mehtala counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Reko Mehtala has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Jitz.

That was a close round but I would say that Reko Mehtala will probably get the nod.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mehtala is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jitz is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jake Jitz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

It looks like Reko Mehtala has been cut.

Jitz is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Mehtala has his hands clasped together but Jitz extends an breaks Mehtala's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Jitz.
