PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Haywood Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daanish Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Haywood Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daanish Khan!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Khan dives in and scores a takedown into Nelson's guard.
Nelson has Khan pulled in close to control his posture.
Khan trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom.
Khan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nelson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Khan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Nelson pulls Khan in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nelson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Khan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Nelson!
Khan trying to control the action but Nelson is working from the bottom.

Khan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nelson to his feet.
Khan misses with a double jab.
Nelson seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Nelson shoots in and gets a takedown into Khan's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Khan looking for a sweep. Not yet Khan, not yet.
Khan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Nelson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Khan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nelson has managed to get both his arms back between Khan's legs - danger averted.
Khan throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Khan working for submissions but it's allowed Nelson to get to half guard.
Khan is trying to stand back up but Nelson is controlling him

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nelson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Khan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Nelson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Khan darts in and clinches Nelson up against the cage.
Khan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nelson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Khan tries to score a body lock takedown but Nelson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Khan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Nelson gets caught napping as Khan dives in and scores a takedown. Nelson manages to retain guard.

Nelson has his feet on Khan's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Khan looks winded!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Nelson looking to score a takedown here. Khan is defending well but Nelson drives through and ends up in Khan's guard.

Nelson has gone for a leg lock! Khan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nelson's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Khan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Nelson, up you get!

Khan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nelson is trying to defend but Khan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nelson holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Nelson trying to control from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daanish Khan will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Nelson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Khan's guard.
Khan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nelson wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving.
Nelson stays in close to Khan's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nelson landing with the ground and pound.
Haywood Nelson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Khan controls Nelson momentarily but Nelson frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nelson stands up over Khan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Nelson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Khan blocks the body kick.
A head kick from Khan lands but Nelson takes it in his stride.


Nelson is rocked!


It looks like Haywood Nelson has been cut.
Khan drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Nelson right on the button. Nelson goes down! Khan follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Khan gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daanish Khan!
