PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Magnus Gallant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Magnus Gallant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andy Jr!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jr slips a jab from Gallant.

Gallant knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jr on the ground.

Gallant really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We've been hearing good reports from Gallant's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Andy Jr dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Gallant lands with a hook. Jr tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Gallant swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gallant throws a shot from downtown. Jr moves away and avoids it.
Gallant connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jr. Gallant does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gallant is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jr.

Jr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jr seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gallant does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Gallant has hold of Jr's hands but Jr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Jr lands with a punch from half guard.
Andy Jr has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Gallant tries to get to full guard but Jr has control of the leg.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jr connects with a nice short shot to Gallant's temple.
Oh Gallant is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jr is landing with some decent strikes but Gallant is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Jr! Gallant is hurt baaadly! Jr is firing away with more strikes - Gallant is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
