The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smagulov shoots in and drives through. Smiff sprawls well.
Smagulov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smiff as he avoids it easily.
Smagulov ducks under a wild hook from Smiff.
Smagulov with the counter takedown but Smiff avoids it easily.
Smagulov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smagulov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smiff.

Smiff shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Smagulov pushes Smiff off looking to stand but Smiff dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smiff lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Smagulov is trying to control but can't.

Smiff is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Smiff thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Smagulov's head.

Smiff slips a nice elbow through Smagulov's hands, connecting with Smagulov's forehead.

Smiff has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Smagulov wants to control but Smiff is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Smiff wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smagulov keeps working.
