PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Henry Brubaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Krzykacz Esperanto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brubaker has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Krzykacz Esperanto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Henry Brubaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Krzykacz Esperanto!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Esperanto throws a series of punches but Brubaker moves out of range.
Brubaker looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Brubaker avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Esperanto shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Brubaker is trying to defend but Esperanto finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Brubaker wants to stand back up but Esperanto manages to pass into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Esperanto decides to stand back up.
Brubaker tries to clinch up but Esperanto circles away and keeps his distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Esperanto throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brubaker was covering up waiting for the punch and Esperanto finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Brubaker wants to get back to his feet but Esperanto passes into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Brubaker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Esperanto on the ground.
Esperanto is taking a breather. Brubaker says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Brubaker looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Esperanto connects with a nice short shot to Brubaker's temple.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Esperanto perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Esperanto's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Esperanto is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Esperanto seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Let's hope that Esperanto has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Esperanto working over Brubaker with some ground and pound. Brubaker looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Esperanto is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Esperanto moves into full mount! Brubaker won't be happy about that!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Esperanto controlling his opponent.
BOOM! Esperanto connects with a massive shot to the dome!


Brubaker is rocked!
Esperanto lands a big elbow - Brubaker is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Brubaker is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Krzykacz Esperanto!
After winning the bout, Krzykacz Esperanto thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
