Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rico Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takem Downem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Rico Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takem Downem!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole slaps away a takedown attempt from Downem, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A good leg kick by Cole.
Downem takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
A punch lands to the side of Downem 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Nice shot by Cole.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Cole.
Cole swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Downem takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Downem gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Cole manages to break the clinch.
Cole with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Cole delivers a nice body kick.

and Downem counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Cole is looking to stand back up but Downem counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Cole.
Cole's coaches at ~T~ Troid - Gym have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Cole is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Downem content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Downem tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cole knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Cole wants to improve his position but Downem is controlling well.
Downem missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Cole knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Downem on the ground.
Cole misses with some strikes from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Downem clinches with his opponent.
Downem has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cole uses from the top position.

Downem is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Downem has a closed guard, preventing Cole from standing up.
Downem pulls Cole in close to his closed guard and prevents Cole from doing any damage or advancing position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cole stops Downem from standing up.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Downem checks the leg kick nicely there.
Cole goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Takem Downem has been cut.
Downem throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cole's waist but Cole gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Downem off to one side.
Cole throws a big counter combination but Downem scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Downem misses with a takedown
enabling Cole to counter with a crisp jab.
Downem scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cole tries to buck Downem off but Downem is having none of it.
Cole can't do much from the bottom here.

Cole is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Downem can do to turn this around?

Downem decides to stand back up.
Rico Cole is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cole bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Downem misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rico Cole has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Takem Downem.
Downem feints and as Cole raises his hands in defense, Downem changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Downem is continuing to stall.

Cole wants to sweep here but Downem controlling him for the moment.
Downem stays in close to Cole's body and controls the position.
Cole tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Downem gets to his feet - Cole follows without any prompting.
Cole gets tackled into the cage by Downem. Downem maintains the clinch.
Downem misses with the head strike.
Downem has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Cole regains guard immediately.

Cole is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Downem gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Downem dives in for a single leg takedown but Cole sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cole lands with a nice combination. Downem backs away looking to recover.
Cole lands a leg kick that knocks Downem off balance momentarily.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Downem drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cole pulls his leg out and moves away.
Downem with a lazy takedown attempt
and Cole makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Downem changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cole tries to avoid it but Downem manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cole to the ground. Cole escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Downem has his takedown stuffed
and Cole counters with a slapping leg kick.
Downem bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cole is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Downem has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Downem has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
A nice inside leg kick there by Cole. That's going to slow Downem down.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Downem.
Downem throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cole's waist but Cole gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Downem off to one side.
Cole thinks about countering with a body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rico Cole dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Takem Downem's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Downem closes the distance and pushes Cole back into the cage.
Downem is trying to force a seperation but Cole has the dominant position.
A short right from Cole on the inside.
Cole escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cole scores with a head kick.
Cole lands a nice looking body shot.
Downem takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Downem doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Downem's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Cole scores with a nice right hand.
Downem shoots and misses
and Cole counters with a nice uppercut.
Downem ducks right into an uppercut from Cole.
Downem is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Downem takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Downem is still on wobbly legs! Can Cole finish him?
Downem takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Downem tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cole swats him away and circles back towards the center.
It looked like Cole was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Cole throws a body kick that misses.
Cole lands with a right hand.
Cole throws a one two combo.
Cole throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Downem crashing down! Downem tries to stagger back to his feet but Cole just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Downem asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rico Cole!
