PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Gravano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doyle Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawk has chosen American Encore as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Doyle Hawk is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sammy Gravano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Doyle Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawk shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gravano manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Hawk drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gravano manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hawk has Gravano in his guard.

Gravano has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hawk is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Hawk looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Hawk working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Gravano has passed into half guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hawk is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gravano pulls his head out easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hawk looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Hawk looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gravano looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Gravano is looking for a kimura but Hawk is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gravano to get the leverage.

Hawk looking for subs from the bottom but Gravano mounts him!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gravano tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hawk keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Gravano is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hawk can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Hawk is working to get back to half guard.
Hawk is in a horrible position here. Gravano smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hawk is looking to get to half guard.
Gravano softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Hawk is out cold! Gravano jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sammy Gravano!
