PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Barker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bo LeClaire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Barker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bo LeClaire!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

LeClaire dives in and scores a takedown into Barker's guard.
LeClaire is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

LeClaire gets to his feet - Barker follows without any prompting.

LeClaire fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Barker, pushing him back against the cage.

LeClaire gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Barker regains guard.
LeClaire postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
LeClaire slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

LeClaire gets to his feet. Barker looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

LeClaire shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Barker is trying to defend but LeClaire finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

LeClaire gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Barker shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

LeClaire wriggles free and stands up.

LeClaire is taking a breather. Barker says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Barker has one foot on LeClaire's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

LeClaire closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

LeClaire working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barker gets caught napping as LeClaire dives in and scores a takedown. Barker manages to retain guard.

LeClaire has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barker is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Barker gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Barker is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of LeClaire's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take LeClaire's back!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chris Barker.
