The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinheiro throws a left and a right that both miss
and Monroe counters with a stiff right hand.

Pinheiro shoots in and bounces Monroe off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Pinheiro controlling from the top position.
Pinheiro working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pinheiro prevents Monroe from getting back to his feet.

Pinheiro drops back looking for a leg! Monroe is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Monroe manages to kick Pinheiro off! Pinheiro jumps back into Monroe's guard.
Pinheiro throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Monroe works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Pinheiro trying to control the position from guard on top but Monroe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pinheiro slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Monroe is looking for a sweep.

Monroe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Pinheiro is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Monroe off and has taken his back!

Monroe is trying to defend against the choke here but Pinheiro has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Pinheiro Tightens the hold and Monroe taps out furiously! Pinheiro displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
